Bryant Park Hotels: Best Places to Stay Near Bryant Park NYC
Eight hotels around Midtown’s favorite lawn, sorted by side of the park, walk time and what you’re really in town for: Broadway, Grand Central, the library or the Winter Village rink.
We may earn a commission if you book through our links, at no extra cost to you.
Bryant Park fills the block between 40th and 42nd Streets, from Fifth Avenue to Sixth. The New York Public Library’s main building takes up the Fifth Avenue end; the rest is lawn, London plane trees, green bistro chairs and, from late October, the Winter Village rink. Times Square is a block west. Grand Central is two avenues east.
That position is why Bryant Park hotels are some of the most useful in Manhattan, and why demand for hotels near Bryant Park NYC jumps every holiday season. You can walk to a Broadway curtain, catch a Metro-North train and be on Fifth Avenue in minutes, then come back to blocks that feel noticeably calmer than Times Square at 11 p.m. Calmer, not quiet: this is still Midtown, with office crowds by day and full sidewalks in December. The choices that matter are which side of the park to sleep on and how close is worth paying for.

Quick Picks: Hotels Near Bryant Park by Trip Type
Walk times are to the nearest park entrance at a normal pace. Add a few minutes in December, when the Holiday Shops fill the paths.
Best Bryant Park Hotels
These are the best hotels near Bryant Park across every budget, from a room overlooking the lawn to a bunk room a few blocks south. Green cards sit right on the park, gold cards on the Fifth Avenue side, blue cards on the Sixth Avenue and Times Square side, and the dark card is the splurge.
Bryant Park Hotel
40 West 40th Street, between Fifth & Sixth Avenues
The black-and-gold tower on West 40th is Raymond Hood’s 1924 American Radiator Building, and it stands directly across the street from the park’s south edge. Booking.com guests rate the location 9.8 out of 10, about as high as that score goes. Rooms are generous for Midtown, with hardwood floors and leather details, and some, including junior suites, look out over the lawn.
There are no extra beds, so this is a hotel for couples and solo travelers rather than families. In winter the rink and Holiday Shops are across the street, which is exactly why people book it for December.
Andaz 5th Avenue
485 Fifth Avenue, at 41st Street
Right across Fifth Avenue from the library’s front steps and its stone lions. Tony Chi designed the rooms to feel like lofts, with 12-foot ceilings and lots of daylight, the minibar’s soft drinks and snacks are complimentary, and there’s a complimentary wine hour in the evening.
Grand Central is about five minutes east, so this is the smoothest pick if you’re arriving by Metro-North and want to sleep somewhere with more character than the station blocks. Expect upscale rates.
Hilton Garden Inn New York/Times Square Central
136 West 42nd Street, between Sixth Avenue & Broadway
The park’s northwest corner is across Sixth Avenue and Times Square is a block the other way, which puts this hotel squarely between the two. Rooms come with a fridge, microwave and coffeemaker, and the 42nd Street subway entrances are steps from the door.
Rooms are small, and some guests say the building is showing its age. You’re booking the position and the points, and for many travelers that’s enough.

Courtyard by Marriott New York Manhattan/Fifth Avenue
3 East 40th Street, just east of Fifth Avenue
Around the corner from the library and the park’s southeast entrance. It’s a 30-story tower with straightforward rooms, a work desk in each, and free coffee on the mezzanine.
Breakfast isn’t served on site, and in a building this tall some guests have run into elevator waits. In exchange you get a Fifth Avenue address beside the park at a mid-range rate.
Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Times Square
1033 Avenue of the Americas, between 38th & 39th Streets
A block and a half south of the park on Sixth Avenue. All 357 rooms have a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and dishwasher, and the breakfast buffet is included.
For a family that changes the math on every day of the trip, and the rink, Le Carrousel and the lawn are a few minutes up the avenue. A few guests mention avenue and elevator noise, so ask for a higher floor.
Refinery Hotel
63 West 38th Street, between Fifth & Sixth Avenues
A neo-Gothic Garment District building turned into a 197-room hotel with high ceilings, wood and leather rooms, and a rooftop bar that looks straight at the Empire State Building. A retractable glass roof keeps the rooftop open through the winter.
Rooms run large for Midtown and Booking.com guests score the location 9.4. Value scores trail the rest, so this is a hotel you pick for the room and the roof rather than the rate.
The Knickerbocker
6 Times Square, at 42nd Street & Broadway
A 1906 Beaux-Arts hotel with 330 rooms, Charlie Palmer’s steakhouse, and the St. Cloud rooftop bar sitting right under the New Year’s Eve ball. The Times Square–42nd Street subway is directly below.
This is where Bryant Park meets Times Square: the park is a short block east and the theaters are right outside. It’s priced as a luxury hotel, and on New Year’s Eve the rooftop needs a separate ticket.
Moxy NYC Times Square
485 Seventh Avenue, at 36th Street
South and west of the park. Rooms are compact, and some have bunk beds that sleep four, which makes this one of the cheaper ways to put a group or family within walking distance of the park.
It’s a 612-room hotel with a big rooftop bar and a social, loud-ish lobby. Penn Station and Madison Square Garden are close by too, so it suits a mixed trip.
Map of Hotels Near Bryant Park
The map opens on the park, with the library and Fifth Avenue to the right and Sixth Avenue to the left. Times Square sits at the upper-left edge and Grand Central off to the right. Add your dates and look for the hotels between 38th and 43rd Streets. That’s the short-walk zone.
Prices and availability come from booking partners and change by date. We may earn a commission if you book, at no extra cost to you.
Hotels Closest to Bryant Park
The park has entrances on all four sides, so hotels close to Bryant Park ring it fairly evenly. What changes as you move is the neighborhood you’re tilting toward: Times Square to the west, Grand Central to the east, the Garment District and Herald Square to the south.
On the park
Bryant Park Hotel, Andaz, Hilton Garden Inn and Courtyard. You can see the park, or nearly.

Fifth Avenue vs Sixth Avenue: Which Side of Bryant Park Is Better?
The park is only one avenue wide, but its two sides face different directions, and the right one depends on where your days and nights are pointed.
The library side
The New York Public Library, Fifth Avenue shopping, and Grand Central five minutes away. The blocks east of Fifth get quieter after offices empty, and it’s the easier side for Metro-North, the LIRR at Grand Central Madison, and Midtown East dinners.
Best for: train arrivals, business trips, culture and Fifth Avenue.
Andaz 5th Avenue · Courtyard Fifth Avenue
More: hotels near Grand Central Station · Midtown East guide
The Times Square side
The B, D, F, M at 42 St–Bryant Park, Times Square a block over, and most Broadway theaters within a 5- to 12-minute walk. Livelier at night, more hotel choice, and a straight run up Sixth Avenue to Radio City and Rockefeller Center.
Best for: show nights, families, first-timers.
On 40th Street, the Bryant Park Hotel and Refinery sit between the two, which is part of their appeal.
Hotels Near Bryant Park Winter Village
From late October, the lawn becomes a 17,000-square-foot rink, the city’s only free-admission one, ringed by the Urbanspace Holiday Shops and The Lodge, a heated rinkside food hall with two bars. It’s one of Midtown’s best winter evenings, and it gets very crowded after dark and on December weekends. Staying a few minutes away lets you skate early, shop at off hours, and walk back with your bags instead of hauling them across town.
2026–27 dates as announced for the 25th season. Skating is free with your own skates; rentals and premium skate sessions cost extra.
Best Hotels for Bryant Park Winter Village
The rink is on the other side of 40th Street. Ask about park-facing rooms.
Breakfast covered before an early skate, and a short walk back with tired kids.
Is It Worth Staying Right Beside the Rink?
Worth it if
The Winter Village is a centerpiece of the trip, you’re skating with kids, or you want the market at 11 a.m. on a weekday instead of 7 p.m. on a Saturday. Bryant Park itself suggests early weekday sessions, and dates before Thanksgiving or after New Year’s, to dodge the worst crowds.
Skip it if
You’ll visit once on the way to something else. The B, D, F and M stop right at the park, so a cheaper hotel farther out works fine for a single evening.

When to Book for Bryant Park Winter Village
The Winter Village season runs straight through Midtown’s busiest hotel weeks, Thanksgiving to New Year’s, so the closest rooms go first and rates climb as December fills. Book early for those dates, keep it refundable, and compare totals including taxes and fees rather than the headline rate. If you’re flexible, early November and January through February still have the rink, with calmer crowds and softer prices. The rink stays open until late February even after the shops close.

Hotels Near the New York Public Library
The library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, the one with the marble lions out front, fills the Fifth Avenue end of the park between 40th and 42nd Streets. Its back terrace opens onto the lawn, so a hotel near the library is a hotel near Bryant Park by definition.
The closest are on the Fifth Avenue side: Andaz 5th Avenue faces the front steps across Fifth at 41st, and Courtyard by Marriott is around the corner on East 40th. The Bryant Park Hotel is a short walk west along 40th Street. Staying on this side suits architecture and museum lovers, Fifth Avenue shoppers, and anyone coming in through Grand Central.
Marriott and Hilton Hotels Near Bryant Park
Bonvoy members have the most choice around the park, with three Marriott hotels at three different price points. Hilton has one strong option, and Hyatt has the Andaz on the library side.
Brand affiliations were checked in October 2026. For a Marriott near Bryant Park, the Courtyard is the closest, the Residence Inn the most family-friendly, and the Moxy the cheapest.
Cheap and Best-Value Hotels Near Bryant Park
Bryant Park isn’t a cheap-hotel neighborhood, and rates on the blocks touching the park reflect that. Real savings come from one of three trades.
Different dates
January and February are usually the softest months, and the rink is still open. Midtown weekend rates sometimes undercut midweek, when business travel fills hotels.
Check the full price before you book. Many Midtown hotels add a nightly facility or destination fee on top of taxes. For more low-cost options across the city, see our budget-friendly NYC hotels.
Luxury Hotels Near Bryant Park
The Knickerbocker is the top-end pick, with Beaux-Arts bones, a steakhouse and a rooftop over Times Square. Andaz 5th Avenue brings loft rooms and a library view, and the Refinery and Bryant Park Hotel sit just below them with more personality per dollar.
Does the premium buy a better location? Not really. The Courtyard is as close to the park as the Andaz. What luxury buys here is room size, service and a rooftop drink with a view, which is worth it for an anniversary or a holiday splurge. For more ideas, see luxury NYC hotels for special occasions.
Best Hotels Near Bryant Park for Families
Bryant Park is one of the easier Midtown bases with kids: open space, Le Carrousel, a free rink in winter, and Times Square close enough to visit without sleeping in it. The Residence Inn is the clear family pick, with kitchenettes and breakfast included. The Moxy works for groups on a budget thanks to its bunk rooms. The Refinery has connecting rooms on request. The Bryant Park Hotel doesn’t add extra beds, so check room occupancy before booking anywhere.
Bryant Park vs Times Square, Grand Central and Rockefeller Center
vs Times Square
Times Square puts the theaters at your door, with brighter, louder nights and more crowds. Bryant Park keeps Broadway a few minutes away and gives you calmer blocks to come home to. If shows are the whole trip, see hotels near Times Square.
vs Grand Central
Grand Central hotels are built around trains: Metro-North, the LIRR and station-side convenience. Bryant Park trades a few minutes of walking for the park, the library and easier Broadway access. Arriving with luggage? Compare hotels near Grand Central Station.
vs Rockefeller Center
Rockefeller Center is sightseeing central: Top of the Rock, St. Patrick’s and the Christmas tree. Bryant Park is the more balanced base for Broadway and trains. For the tree and Fifth Avenue, see hotels near Rockefeller Center.
Is Bryant Park a Good Area to Stay in NYC?
Why it works
- Dead center: Times Square, Grand Central, Fifth Avenue and the library on foot.
- The B, D, F, M and 7 at the park, with the 1, 2, 3, N, Q, R, W and S one block west.
- Calmer than Times Square at night, with an actual park to start the day in.
- A strong base for business trips, with Midtown offices in every direction.
What to know
- Rates are high year-round, and highest from Thanksgiving to New Year’s.
- Busy office blocks by day, and crowded paths during Winter Village evenings.
- Less neighborhood character than Hell’s Kitchen or downtown after dark.
- Late-night dining thins out on the office blocks east of Fifth.
It suits first-timers, Broadway fans who don’t want to sleep in Times Square, train arrivals, and anyone in town for the holidays. For dinner nearby, start with restaurants near Times Square or our pre-show dining guide, and for the neighborhood itself, the Bryant Park and Midtown South guide.

When to Book a Bryant Park Hotel, and What It Costs
Bryant Park hotel prices move too much by date to quote reliably, so here’s how the hotels on this page compare with each other instead.
- Compare the total. Taxes and nightly fees can change which hotel is actually cheaper.
- Request a park view at the Bryant Park Hotel if the lawn is the point.
- Ask for a high floor on Sixth Avenue if you’re a light sleeper.
- Check breakfast. It’s included at the Residence Inn and not served at the Courtyard.
