Edge NYC Tickets: Prices, Views & Observation Deck Guide

The open-air deck that sticks out from the side of 30 Hudson Yards, with a glass floor at the tip and the Hudson River below. Here’s which Edge ticket to buy, how to pay less, and when another deck is the better call.

Edge NYC (the Edge New York, the Edge observatory at Hudson Yards) is the one that looks like a diving board. The sky deck juts out from the 100th floor of 30 Hudson Yards, open to the air, with glass walls tilted outward and a glass floor near the point. You’re out in the wind, 1,131 feet up, looking straight down the Hudson toward the Statue of Liberty and back across the whole Midtown skyline.

That outdoor feeling is the whole reason to pick the Edge observation deck over the Midtown options. It’s also the catch: Edge is the deck most affected by wind, cold and clouds. This guide covers every current Edge ticket, the real ways to save, the glass floor, City Climb, and how Edge compares with SUMMIT, Top of the Rock, the Empire State Building and One World Observatory.

So what does the Edge NYC cost in practice? A daytime General Admission ticket on a weekday sits close to the starting price. A Saturday sunset slot runs noticeably higher. For a family of four with two older kids, an Advance Saver booking or the Family Bundle makes the biggest dent.

🏷 The honest answer

Edge NYC Promo Codes, Discounts & Ways to Save

Lots of people search for an Edge NYC promo code or coupon code before buying. Here’s the straight answer: Edge doesn’t publish general promo codes, and “codes” on coupon sites are usually expired or just affiliate links. The good news is that Edge’s real discounts are better than most codes would be.

Discounts that actually exist

Advance Saver, up to 35% off. Book at least 14 days ahead. This is the single biggest saving on Edge discount tickets.

Residents, up to 20% off. New York, New Jersey and Connecticut residents get a resident rate.

Family Bundle, 20% off. Families save 20%, and the kids get free ice cream.

Kids 5 and under, free. They don’t need a ticket at all.

Bundles. The Champagne Experience and the Edge & Vessel bundle cost less than buying each piece separately.

Annual pass. If you live nearby or visit often, Edge also sells an annual pass.

Skip the “secret code” hunt. If a third-party site promises a price far below Edge’s own Advance Saver rate, make sure it’s a real dated ticket from a known seller. The cheapest legitimate Edge ticket is almost always an Advance Saver booked straight from the calendar.

⭐ Our take

Is Edge NYC Worth It?

Read through Edge NYC reviews and the split is clear. People who wanted to feel the height and stand outside rave about it. People who showed up on a cold, windy, cloudy afternoon, or expected a classic Midtown postcard view, are much less sold. Here’s how to tell which camp you’re in.

Why it’s worth it

  • A fully open-air sky deck that Edge bills as the highest in the Western Hemisphere; you’re outside, not behind a window.
  • The glass floor and the outward-leaning glass walls genuinely mess with your sense of height.
  • The best sunset of any NYC deck, straight over the Hudson.
  • A long view down the river to Lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty.
  • Easy to pair with the High Line, Vessel and dinner at Hudson Yards.
  • A new indoor experience (2026) gives you something to do if the weather turns.

Why another deck might suit you better

  • It’s windy and exposed, and can be truly cold from November to March.
  • The view leans west and south; you see Midtown from the side, not from the middle.
  • Hudson Yards is a hike from Times Square and Rockefeller Center.
  • The glass floor and glass walls draw crowds, so prime spots can feel packed.
  • On a gray day, the main draw, the view, is mostly gone.
Edge is best for

Thrill seekers, sunset chasers, photographers who like open sky, and anyone combining the High Line and Hudson Yards into one afternoon.

Consider another deck if

You’re nervous about heights, it’s freezing or blustery, you want the Empire State Building front and center, or you’d rather have an indoor art experience like SUMMIT.

🌬 The main event

Edge NYC Outdoor Observation Deck

The Edge observation deck wraps around a triangular point that cantilevers out from the 100th floor. There’s no roof overhead. Instead of a railing, the deck is edged with tall glass panels that tilt outward, so you can lean against them and look almost straight down. Toward the back, the Skyline Steps climb to the 101st floor, with seats facing the view and a gap in the glass that frames the Empire State Building.

◢Angled glass wallsTilted outward so leaning on them puts you over the city, not just next to it.
🧊Glass floorA see-through section near the point, about 1,100 feet above the street.
🪜Skyline StepsStadium-style steps to the 101st floor, the best seat for sunset.

It’s genuinely exposed. On a calm summer evening, that’s the magic. On a January afternoon with the wind coming off the river, you’ll want a hat and gloves, and you may spend more time inside than you planned. The outdoor deck stays open year-round, including in rain and snow, and closes temporarily only for things like high winds or lightning.

Inside: the 2026 immersive experience

Before you reach the deck, Edge walks you through a new indoor experience that opened in June 2026. Seven installations include Pulse, with 450 color-changing orbs that react to your movement; Reflections, with 200 spinning mirrored panels; Kaleidoscope, billed as the city’s largest; Crystal Cave; and Infinite City, a forest of glowing columns. Skyrise turns the elevator ride into a 100-floor light show. Budget 30 to 60 minutes for the indoor part.

🫣 Look down

Edge NYC Glass Floor

When people search for a New York glass floor building, this is usually what they mean. The Edge New York glass floor is a section of see-through flooring on the outdoor sky deck, near the point, with the street about 1,100 feet below. It’s not the whole deck, just one panel area, and it’s included with every ticket.

Stepping onto it is optional. Plenty of people stand at the edge and take a photo of someone else’s feet. It’s also the busiest spot on the deck, so at peak times expect to wait your turn. For the best photo, stand on the glass and shoot straight down between your shoes, or have someone shoot you from a low angle with the skyline behind.

The glass floor is different from City Climb. The floor is a moment; City Climb is a two-hour, harnessed climb up the outside of the building.

🔭 What’s out there

What Can You See From Edge NYC?

Edge sits on the far West Side, so the view from Edge NYC is different from the Midtown decks. You’re looking at Manhattan from the side rather than from the middle of it.

To the south, the Hudson runs down to Lower Manhattan and One World Trade Center, with the Statue of Liberty in the harbor on clear days. To the west, New Jersey and the river, which is why sunsets here are so good. Looking east, the Midtown skyline lines up with the Empire State Building as its centerpiece. Central Park is visible to the north, but it’s far off and partly blocked by towers; you get the best look from the Skyline Steps. Directly below: the Hudson Yards plaza, Vessel and the High Line.

🧗 Above the deck

City Climb at Edge NYC

Closed for the season. As of October 7, 2026, Edge lists City Climb as closed for the season with tickets off sale. Everything below is how it works when it’s running; check Edge’s site for the reopening date.

Edge observation-deck admission and City Climb are two different things. Edge City Climb is a guided, open-air climb up the outside of 30 Hudson Yards, above the Edge sky deck. You suit up, get clipped into a harness that’s attached to a trolley track, climb a steep exterior staircase and finish on a small platform more than 1,200 feet up, where you lean out over the edge of the building on purpose.

HeightMore than 1,200 ft
TimeAbout 1.5–2 hours
IncludesEdge access
Age13+ (younger climbers with an adult; confirm)
Height limits4’9″ to 6’7″
WeightUp to 310 lbs

You wear a climb suit over your clothes, and you need closed shoes that cover the ankle (Edge has some to lend). Loose items like watches and earrings come off. A Climb Guide runs the safety briefing and stays with your group. Personal phones and cameras don’t go up, which is why the photo package matters. Friends who don’t climb can buy spectator access to watch from the Edge deck.

How much does City Climb cost?

Edge’s City Climb page lists the base climb from $80 and the Combo Package, which adds a photo folder and a digital video, from $125. Both include Edge access, plus a $2 fee. Since tickets are off sale for the season, treat those as reference prices and check again when it reopens.

Is City Climb worth it?

For the right person, it’s the most memorable thing you can do at any NYC deck. It’s a great fit for thrill seekers, birthdays and proposals, and anyone who’s already done the classic decks. It’s not for people with a real fear of heights, limited mobility, or a tight schedule, and if you’re watching your budget, the regular Edge deck already gives you most of the view.

🕰 Timing

Best Time to Visit Edge NYC

Morning / earlyLower prices and thinner crowds. Clear air on good days makes the harbor easy to see.
AfternoonBright and busy. The sun swings west, so expect glare on the glass later in the day.
SunsetEdge’s signature. The sun drops over the Hudson right in front of you. Priciest and first to sell out.
NightMidtown lit up to the east, a dark river to the west. Colder, quieter and great for a date.

Is sunset worth it at Edge?

More than at any other deck in the city, because Edge faces west with nothing in the way. Book an entry about an hour before sunset, which gives you time for the indoor rooms and a spot on the Skyline Steps before the sun goes down. Sunset moves a lot through the year, from around 4:30pm in December to past 8:30pm in late June; Edge posts the day’s sunset time on its homepage. If the forecast is cloudy, a Flex ticket lets you wait it out.

Edge NYC at night

After dark, the deck splits in two: Midtown glows to the east with the Empire State Building lit up, while the river side goes inky black. The glass walls start to reflect the deck lights, so for photos, press your phone flat to the glass. It’s colder and calmer than daytime, with fewer kids and more couples.

Edge sunset, then a show next door

This season, Hudson Yards has a built-in second act. John Legend and Lynn Nottage’s new musical Imitation of Life, starring Adrienne Warren, plays The Shed, the arts center on the same plaza as Edge and Vessel, from November 21 to January 3. With December sunsets around 4:30pm, you can catch golden hour on the sky deck, eat at Hudson Yards and still be in your seat with time to spare. It runs about 2 hours 40 minutes with an intermission, so it’s a full night.

Visiting Edge in winter

Dress like you’re going to a football game: hat, gloves, a real coat. The wind on the deck can make it feel much colder than street level. Daylight is short, so sunset comes early, and the indoor experience becomes a bigger part of the visit.

🕗 Plan around it

Edge NYC Hours

Edge NYC hours change by day and season, and private events can shift them, so Edge posts each day’s hours on its homepage. On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, it was open from 1pm to 10pm. Check your exact date before you choose a time slot, especially around holidays.

📍 Find the door

Edge NYC Address and Entrance

The Edge NYC address is 30 Hudson Yards, but you don’t go in through the office tower. The entrance is on Level 4 of The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards, the mall at the base of the building. Go into the mall, take the escalators or elevator up to Level 4, and follow the Edge signs.

Edge at Hudson Yards

Edge at Hudson Yards sits at the center of the development on the far West Side. Vessel, the honeycomb climbing structure, is on the plaza right outside, and the High Line’s northern end is a short walk away. It’s well west of the Midtown core: about 20 minutes on foot from Times Square.

How to get to Edge NYC

Subway: The 7 train ends at 34 St–Hudson Yards, a short walk from the mall.

From Penn Station: About a 10 to 15 minute walk west.

From the High Line: Walk the High Line north to its end at Hudson Yards, one of the nicest ways to arrive.

Taxi or rideshare: Ask for The Shops at Hudson Yards, at 10th Avenue and 33rd Street.

Accessibility: Edge is fully accessible, with elevators, a service elevator and ramps. Assistive listening devices and handheld captioning are available at Guest Services on Level 4.

Edge NYC vs Top of the Rock

Top of the Rock gives you the classic Midtown composition: the Empire State Building straight ahead, Central Park behind you, and the Art Deco history of Rockefeller Center. Edge gives you the thrill: an outdoor deck sticking out from the building, a glass floor and the river sunset. Top of the Rock is easier to reach from Times Square; Edge pairs better with the High Line.

Choose Edge if…

  • You want height you can feel
  • You want the Hudson sunset

Choose Top of the Rock if…

  • You want the postcard Empire State view
  • Central Park matters to you

Read our Top of the Rock guide.

Edge NYC vs Empire State Building

Modern against historic. The Empire State Building is the landmark itself, with its Art Deco lobby and open-air 86th-floor deck. Edge is newer, its outdoor deck sits higher than the Empire State’s 86th-floor deck, and it’s built for thrills. For a first NYC trip, the Empire State Building is the classic; from Edge, the Empire State Building is the best thing in your view. At night, both are great; for photos with the Empire State Building in them, Edge wins.

Choose Edge if…

  • You want the Empire State Building in your photos
  • You want a glass floor and open air

Choose the Empire State Building if…

  • It’s your first trip
  • History and architecture are the draw

See our Empire State Building guide.

Edge NYC vs One World Observatory

Outside versus up top. One World Observatory, on floors 100 to 102 of One World Trade Center, is the highest view in the city, but it’s fully enclosed behind glass. Edge is a little lower and you’re out in the open air. One World is the stronger pick in cold, wind or rain and fits a downtown day with the 9/11 Memorial; Edge wins for the open-air thrill, the glass floor and a Hudson sunset, and pairs with the High Line.

Choose Edge if…

  • You want to be outside
  • You’re spending the day on the West Side

Choose One World if…

  • The weather is cold or unsettled
  • Your plans are in Lower Manhattan

See our One World Observatory guide.

🌧 Gray days

What Happens if the Weather Is Bad at Edge?

Edge is the most weather-dependent deck in the city, so this matters. The indoor experience and indoor deck stay open in all weather. The outdoor sky deck stays open in rain and snow (its floors are heated on snowy days) but can close temporarily for high winds or lightning. Low clouds can hide the view entirely.

Standard tickets are non-refundable. If the forecast looks unsettled, either add Cancellation Protection at checkout or buy Flex Admission, which lets you come any time on your date or change it up to 2 hours ahead. When City Climb is running, it’s the most weather-sensitive part of Edge; check its booking terms before you pay.

📸 Before you go

Edge NYC Photography Tips

Use the glass floor for the shot everyone wants. Phone straight down, feet at the edges of the frame.

Lean into the angled walls. A photo of someone leaning back against the glass with the skyline behind them shows off the deck’s shape.

Kill reflections at night by pressing your lens flat against the glass.

Leave the tripod. Tripods and lights aren’t allowed. Selfie sticks are allowed indoors only. Large bags and luggage aren’t allowed, and there’s no luggage storage.

Is Edge NYC Good for Kids?

Most kids love the glass floor, and the new indoor light rooms are a hit. Children 5 and under are free, and kids under 12 must be with an adult ticket holder. The glass walls are tall and solid, but some kids, and plenty of adults, freeze up on the glass floor; don’t push it. Strollers are allowed, but you’ll fold them for the elevators. City Climb is 13 and up only. Plan on about 60 to 90 minutes, and dress kids warmly in the colder months.

Food and drinks at Edge

The Skyline Bar & Café on the 100th floor serves snacks, small plates, cocktails and champagne. Outside food isn’t allowed, but sealed water in clear plastic bottles is fine. Through late October 2026, Edge also runs Vinyl & Views (weekday happy hours with DJs) and the 21+ Marquee Skydeck nights.

❓ Quick answers

Edge NYC FAQ

How much are Edge NYC tickets?

General Admission starts at $42 for a timed entry, plus a $2 processing fee per ticket. Booking 14 or more days ahead with the Advance Saver ticket starts at $34. Flex Admission, which lets you arrive any time on your date, starts at $73, and Priority Access starts at $88. Prices rise for popular times, especially sunset.

Is Edge NYC worth it?

Yes, if you want to be outside. Edge has a huge open-air sky deck, a glass floor and a sunset view over the Hudson that no Midtown deck can match. If you would rather stay warm and indoors, or you want the classic Midtown skyline, SUMMIT or Top of the Rock may suit you better.

Does Edge NYC have a glass floor?

Yes. A glass-floored section near the point of the outdoor sky deck lets you stand over about 1,100 feet of air on the 100th floor. It is included with every ticket, it is optional, and it is usually the most crowded spot on the deck.

What is City Climb at Edge?

City Climb is a guided, harnessed climb up the outside of 30 Hudson Yards, above the Edge sky deck, to an open platform more than 1,200 feet up where you lean out over the city. It is a separate ticket from regular Edge admission.

Is City Climb included with Edge tickets?

No. City Climb is its own ticket. A City Climb ticket includes Edge access, but a regular Edge ticket does not include the climb.

How much does City Climb cost?

Edge’s City Climb page lists the base climb from $80 and the Combo Package with photos and video from $125, both with Edge access, plus a $2 fee. City Climb is closed for the season right now and tickets are off sale, so check the price again when it reopens.

Are there Edge NYC promo codes?

Edge does not publish general promo codes. The real savings are the Advance Saver ticket for booking 14 or more days ahead, the resident discount of up to 20% for New York, New Jersey and Connecticut residents, and the Family Bundle, which saves 20%.

What are Edge NYC hours?

Edge’s hours change by day and season, and it posts each day’s hours on its homepage. On October 7, 2026, it was open from 1pm to 10pm. Check your date before you book a slot.

What is the best time to visit Edge?

Sunset is the classic pick because Edge faces west over the Hudson, but it is the busiest and most expensive time. Book a slot about an hour before sunset and stay into the evening. For lower prices and smaller crowds, go earlier in the day.

Is Edge better than SUMMIT One Vanderbilt?

Edge is better if you want a big outdoor deck, a glass floor and Hudson River sunsets. SUMMIT is better if you want an indoor, mirror-filled art experience and a close-up view of the Chrysler Building in Midtown.

Is Edge better than Top of the Rock?

Edge is the thrill pick, with a glass floor and the open-air deck jutting out from the tower. Top of the Rock has the classic Midtown view, with the Empire State Building straight ahead and Central Park behind you. First-time visitors who want that postcard view often prefer Top of the Rock.

What happens if it rains at Edge NYC?

The indoor experience and indoor deck stay open in all weather, and the outdoor sky deck stays open in rain and snow. It can close temporarily for high winds or lightning. Standard tickets are non-refundable, so add Cancellation Protection or choose a Flex ticket if the forecast worries you.
